Instructions for Authors

Papers must be submitted in electronic format through the EDAS system.

The submission procedure consists of two steps. Initially, the paper is registered providing details such as title, authors and abstract. In order to register the paper, all authors must also be registered in EDAS. Subsequently, the file is uploaded in pdf format.

Attention to the guidelines regarding the type of paper to be submitted: full papers can not exceed 5 pages and undergraduate research papers can not exceed 2 pages.

Poster Instructions

There is no template for posters. However, the rules below must be observed. Remember that it should be possible to read the poster at a distance of 1.5 m.

Suggested Formatting
  • Size: The maximum dimensions of the poster will be 84.1 cm (width) x 118.9 cm (height)
  • Title, Authors, University: At the top of the poster.
  • Title and University: Capital letters, minimum height 1.5 cm (printed font size).
  • Authors: Lowercase letters with initials in upper case, minimum height of 1 cm (printed font size). It is suggested to add e-mail and/or telephone contact of the authors.
  • Text: Minimum letter height of 6 mm. It is recommended that illustrations (photos, diagrams, tables, equations) occupy at least 40% of the total area. Use double spacing between paragraphs.
Suggested Content
  • Introduction: The importance of the subject should be highlighted briefly in the form of introduction or equivalent.
  • Methodology: Give a compact idea of ​​the methodology or approach of the research.
  • Results and Discussion: Indicate only those of greater prominence.
  • Conclusions: Indicate the main results obtained.
  • References: Relate only the most directly related to the subject.

JCIS Special Issue

The best SBrT2017 papers will be selected for possible publication in a special issue of the Journal of Communication and Information Systems (JCIS). The process of selecting and reviewing extended versions of SBrT 2017 papers in JCIS will follow the following steps:

  1. Submission of a full paper to SBrT 2017 in English, according to the symposium deadlines.
  2. Notification to authors will be made shortly after the end of the event.
  3. Authors should prepare an extended version of the selected paper for submission to JCIS, containing at least 30% of new material. The extended version must be submitted via the JCIS submission system no later than September 02, 2017.
  4. The extended versions of the selected papers will enter the traditional JCIS review process and will follow the journal schedule for review and publication as per the instructions at https://jcis.sbrt.org.br/jcis.

Submission of mini-course proposals

Authors are also invited to submit mini-course proposals directly to the Mini-courses Committee (cristiano.torezzan@fca.unicamp.br, ursini@ft.unicamp.br). Mini-course proposals must contain sufficient information to enable the technical committee to judge the importance, quality and interest of the topic, as well as the proven experience of the proposers in the topic. Proposals should be submitted in the same format as the papers. The final versions of the proposals should have a maximum of 10 double column pages. The Mini- course is 3 (three) hours long.

One of the accepted mini-course authors will have a room rate at the event's hotel covered by the organizing committee.
